Addiction Counceling
An addiction counselor, also known as a substance abuse counselor, provides expert care and support to individuals who struggle with substance use disorders (SUDs). These disorders can range from mild to severe and affect people differently. As complex mental health conditions, SUDs require specialized understanding and tailored treatment plans.
Symmetry Addiction Counseling Approach
Assessment:
I will assess both the mental and physical health of individuals with SUDs. Through discussions, we will determine the severity of the addiction, readiness for change, and any co-occurring mental health conditions (known as dual diagnosis).
We will identify potential challenges that may impact treatment and other needs.

Treatment Planning:
We will develop personalized treatment plans for each substance use disorder.
These plans may involve various components, such as:
Therapy: Individual or group therapy sessions.
Rehabilitation Programs: Inpatient or outpatient programs.
Support Groups: Connecting individuals with others facing similar challenges.
Counselors collaborate with other healthcare providers to tailor treatment plans to match individual needs and goals.
